COBRA INTERNATIONAL RESPONDS TO COVID-19
3rd April 2020
COBRA International has announced an update on the actions that the group is taking in response to the developing COVID-19 situation.
The health and safety of the COBRA team remains the first priority. For some time now, strict measures have been employed by COBRA to ensure the safety of its 2,400 employees. These measures include: temperature screening at regular points throughout the day; social distancing in all factories and at lunch and rest times; a freeze on all travel; strict hygiene practices and the wearing of masks and gloves. As a result, COBRA is pleased to confirm that there are no recorded cases of COVID-19 within the factories or workspaces.
The second priority is to manage the health of the COBRA business and to ensure supply and delivery of its products to customers. COBRA reports a temporary slow-down in customer demand in some areas of its business such as Automotive and Water Sports and as a result, has implemented the following production schedule as of April 2nd, 2020.
- COBRA continues to run its production facilities for 4 days per week.
- A number of production lines within CAC
- COBRA’s Automotive business unit
- will be paused between the 6-30th April due to constraints resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. CAC will keep in close contact with its customers and suppliers during this period and can quickly resume production when demand shifts.
- COBRA will assess productivity and, if any other business areas show significant demand reduction, may temporarily shut down specific production lines for a period of time.
- COBRA is working closely with suppliers and logistics providers to minimise disruption wherever possible.
“There is no denying that these are worrying and challenging times,” comments Danu Chotikapanich, CEO, COBRA International “However, I would like to assure our customers, suppliers and associates that other than the changes to the manufacturing schedule as reported, it is very much business as normal at COBRA. We will also take this time to improve our operations, upskill our team and further develop our products and production technology and we are very much looking forward to coming out stronger when this crisis passes”.
“For now though, it is most important to look after our team – the COBRA family – and for us all to look after one another. We wish all our customers, suppliers, associates and brands the very best in these troubled times, and encourage them to reach out if needed - now is a time for the industry to support each other. Most importantly, please stay safe”.
